Applicants must be at least 23 years old, possess a Class A CDL, and have at least two years of recent semi-tractor experience within the last three years. Drivers must also pass a DOT physical, safely and professionally operate a commercial vehicle, and meet the basic physical demands of the position, including vision, hearing, and mobility requirements.

Top Southland drivers average $1,600 a week and Company Drivers are paid weekly. Additional compensation includes safety and performance bonuses, detention pay, breakdown pay, multi-stop pay, and layover pay. Full benefits include medical coverage, dental, vision, hearing and prescription insurance, company-paid life insurance, paid vacation, and a 401(k) savings plan with company match.
Southland hosts weekly orientation at its corporate offices in Boonville, North Carolina. Orientation includes a pre-trip inspection, road test, drug screening, safety instruction, technology training, and onboarding paperwork. All CDL drivers must be registered through the Clearinghouse per the FMCSA. Meals and a hotel room are included. Southland also provides lodging and transportation assistance for qualifying drivers traveling from outside the area. Call to ask about Transition Pay before attending orientation.
